Mission
The mission of the Bilingual/ESL Program is to provide the English Language Learners (ELLs) in the Camden City School District with high quality instruction in their native language and in English. This will enable the ELLs to interact and to be productive members in a diverse society.
The Bilingual/ESL Program in Camden City is developmental in nature and provides services to ELLs with limited English proficiency in grades PreK-12. The Program is transitional, multilingual, and multicultural.
Goals
The goal of the Bilingual Education and ESL Only Programs is to meet the cognitive and affective needs of the students in order to facilitate their successful integration into the mainstream English classroom and the community at large. In addition, the Program encourages students to maintain their identity, native language, and cultural heritage.
**The Bilingual Office serves the following languages : Spanish, Abkazian, Central Khmer, Chinese, Creoles and Pidgins, English, English-Middle (1100-1500), English-Old (ca.450-1100), French, French-Old (842-ca.1400), Pushto; Pashto, Spanish; Castilian, Urdu and Vietnamese.
