We ask the community to join us in celebrating the life of Advisory Board Member and retired Camden educator Dorothy "Dot" Burley. Ms. Burley passed away suddenly this morning, and will be missed by so many in our schools and City.

Ms. Burley was a passionate, thoughtful, and caring educator whose work for the Fairview Neighbors and Yorkship School made her a familiar face in Yorkship Square for decades.  Whether she was organizing community picnics in the summer or food and coat drives in the winter, Ms. Burley was always busy looking after her neighbors and instilling a love of education in the children of Fairview. A retired District elementary school teacher, Ms. Burley brought her passion for teaching and learning to the Board of Education, where she championed the rights of children and senior citizens. We thank Ms. Burley for her service to Camden City School District and the entire Camden community. Her presence on our Advisory Board will be missed profoundly.

The District will be honoring the life and work of Ms. Burley in the coming days and weeks. We hope you join us in remembering the life of a great educator and community servant.
